What if maybe the devil had the humans bests interests at heart?

I've always wondred that what if the devil thought that maybe God was being to cruel and that's why he tried to overthrow him. Afterall God hasn't exactly been the most forgiving or tolerant person. What if Satan cared about the humans? Afterall it is the victors that right the story.
