Need advice on taking care of a plant, i think it is some kind of cactus?

i bout this cute little cactus looking plant from an amish green house. she said to just not give it too much water. but im wondering if i need to sit in in front of a window and if i need to put it in a big pot or if a small one would be ok. please and thank you.
