How can I commit to an interview for an article that requires a query first?
I'm in a tough catch-22 here, and I'm not sure how to deal with this writing issue: I want to submit a query for a magazine with specific editorial themes. I've written for magazines before and know that the queries most likely selected to be developed into full articles are those with specific information, such as who will be interviewed and which resources will be used. I have potential access to a fantastic resource, but I need to fill out forms regarding my article in order to get to the source and I have to provide proof that my article has already been accepted by the publication. The form is a "request for an interview" but there's no guarantee of actually snagging the interview. How do I deal with my desire to confirm this interview to include in my query when I can't confirm it without already having my article accepted? Is there any wording that can be used in my query to explain that I may have this stellar interview but that it's not a done deal?
